Abstract:   (22 Views)
Ethnic identity comprises various dimensions and angles, necessitating a comprehensive and holistic examination. Therefore, relying solely on one method cannot provide an accurate picture of the subject. Due to the limited studies on the ethnic identity of the “Lak” community and to rigorously investigate this issue, a qualitative approach has been adopted. In order to identify the dimensions and characteristics of the Lak community, in-depth interviews with experts and specialists in this field has been conducted. Utilizing the findings from these in-depth interviews with 10 experts, the complexities of the relationship between ethnic identity and national identity among the Lak people has been explored. Data is qualitatively analyzed using the thematic analysis method, allowing a more profound and interpretative examination of the interview data. This analysis enables the identification of key themes and allowes for an in-depth analysis of how ethnic and national identities are experienced and understood by experts. Findings reveal that the identity of the Lak community has evolved over time and is intertwined with various factors such as language, culture, history, land, kinship, discrimination, cultural assimilation, and migration. The Lak people, in search of a common "we," are actively reinterpreting and re-creating their identity in the modern world.
