Abstract:   (10 Views)
In recent decades, nomadic communities have experienced significant cultural changes due to factors such as globalization and the expansion of urbanization. These changes have had both positive and negative impacts on their way of life. On one hand, access to new technologies and exposure to other cultures can enrich nomadic life; on the other hand, the loss of traditional ways of living and pressures toward assimilation into dominant cultures may lead to the erosion and even extinction of nomadic cultural heritage. The main objective of this study is to examine the pattern of cultural change in the lifestyle of Qashqai nomads in Isfahan over the past four decades. This research was conducted using a qualitative approach. The study population consisted of individuals aged over 60, and data were collected from those who were at least 20 years old forty years ago. Purposive sampling was employed to determine the sample size. The sample reached theoretical saturation with 33 Qashqai elders; however, to ensure the reliability of the findings, data collection continued until 40 participants were interviewed. Grounded theory coding was used to analyze and interpret the collected data. In addition, a statistical description of selected socio-economic and cultural indicators of the Qashqai nomads was provided based on census data. The qualitative findings indicate that cultural transformations in the nomadic lifestyle have occurred across four main domains: changes in patterns of social communication, transformations in symbolic and ritual systems, changes in the educational system, and shifts in cultural identity.
